Toyota Material Handling Australia (TMHA) has claimed to have retained its overall national forklift market leadership position for its internal-combustion counter-balance forklifts.

TMHA says that according to Official Australian Industrial Truck Association (AITA) industry sales results for the 2011 calendar year, the company has captured over 305 of the total Australian forklift market for its internal-combustion counter-balance forklifts.

TMHA reports to have sold in excess of 4,500 forklifts during 2011; a reported 20% increase on its total 2010 sales.

On a state-by-state basis, TMHA says it was the leading forklift supplier in Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania, and shared the top position in New South Wales, Australia’s largest forklift market.

According to a statement released by the company, TMHA held the leading position for the combined three and four-wheel battery electric forklift segments in 2011, and increased its overall 2011 sales in all combined battery electric forklift segments by 19% compared with its 2010 sales result.
