The Agi-Kleen patented water blasting system has been designed for removing the build-up of dried or ‘dead’ concrete in cement mixer.
The traditional method for removing dead concrete, de-dagging, requires workers to chip away the accumulated concrete with a jackhammer inside the barrel of the cement mix truck.
Manual de-dagging can take up to eight hours. However, the Agi-Kleen reportedly can remove dead concrete in two hours, and requires fewer operators. According to the company, this will substantially cut the time a truck is off the road, thus increasing productivity.
Additionally, de-dagging can often result in injuries and sometimes deaths as workers are exposed to falling chunks of dead concrete. The sharp agitator blades, accidental rotation of the drum with a jackhammer-operator inside, and long periods in a cramped, confined space with a jackhammer could also lead to silicosis, loss of hearing and or the loss of limbs.
With the Agi-Kleen high-pressure water jetting system, worker safety is increased with equipment technician able to work outside the cement truck’s mixing drum.
The system, which is said to be the only one of its kind, has reportedly been used to remove more than 500 tonnes of dead concrete from Australian concrete trucks.
