Inventor Optimisation Technology embraces SaaS

comments

Autodesk’s latest Inventor Optimisation software is designed to allow engineers to tap into cloud-based processing power to perform digital simu lation on their product designs at no additional cost.

The Software as a Service (SaaS), web-based technology, which is now available for download as a free technology preview, works with Autodesk’s Inventor 2011 product.

The technology reportedly provides nearly infinite com puting power and enables users to extend the Digital Prototyping functionality of their Inventor desktop application with high-perform ance simulation.

The new web-based simula tion is said to help designers and engineers to better tackle the problem of reducing the weight and the amount of material used in a design while improving product quality and safety. Minimising weight can reduce material and trans portation costs, and contribute to more sustainable product designs, Autodesk says.

An intuitive tool, Inventor Optimisation reportedly gels with Autodesk’s commitment to making its 3D design software accessible to the broadest pos sible audience.

Inventor Optimisation report edly represents a response to customer demand for web- based access to information. The technology preview expires 31 March 2011. To register, visit labs.autodesk.com
