Holden recalls 30,000 VE Utes due to safety risk

comments

GM Holden has recalled over 30,000 of its VE Utes sold across Australia due to a safety-related problem with the tailgate, according to a Government notice.

A condition can occur under specific operating conditions where the tailgate may unlatch when impacted rearwards with sufficient energy by unsecured objects placed in the rear cargo tray, the notice said.

If the Ute's cargo tray is loaded, owners should either use a Holden tonneau cover or ensure items are firmly restrained within the tray and not loaded against the tailgate, Holden warns.

Holden is asking customers to contact their authorised Holden dealership for a free-of-charge rework (timing will be subject to availability of parts).
