Digital manufacturing conference

A first-of-its-king direct-digital manufacturing event called Factory of the Future will be held at CSIRO Lindfield on Thursday 24 June 2010.

The event is designed to explore how Australian companies can capitalise on the next industrial revolution: digital manufacturing.

Technologies including selective laser melting and cold spray could be applied to custom consumer products, aerospace, telecommunications, medical, defence, electronics, automotive, dentistry, arts and entertainment, the organisers, Formero, say.

“In the next five years digital manufacturing is projected to grow over USD$2.5 billion,” says Formero.

“Global players such as Siemens and Boeing adopted digital manufacturing in the late 90s and now lead the way in their industries. Small start-up companies are also benefiting from this technology for low-volume, end-product manufacture.

“We invite you to attend this event and find out the opportunities and challenges when using these technologies.”

Presenters will include Stefan Ritt from MTT Technologies Germany, Dr Mahnaz Jahedi from CSIRO and Bill Bardsley from Frontline.
